11/22/2023: THE TERROR (1963)

DISCLAIMER: I'm gonna keep it 100, chief: I didn't finish this movie. That doesn't happen often. If I weren't keeping a film journal I wouldn't bother to write anything about it.

It might just be a janky tape but the audio was muffled as hell and without subtitles my auditory processing was simply not equal to the task. I was pumped to see a movie with Boris Karloff and Jack Nicholson, two generations of horror icons sharing the same screen. Not to mention director/producer Roger Corman was on a streak of relatively successful Poe adaptations. It seemed like a recipe for exemplary Gothic horror.

The plot synopsis on Wikipedia is a bit convoluted but I suppose that's a facet of the genre. In any case I won't comment on The Terror any further until I find a more accessible version of the movie.
